Technology has long been utilized for its potential in creating collaboration amongst peers. Voicethread.com is one such technological avenue whose sole purpose is to create group conversations and share it all in one place. While many sites out there offer similar services, VoiceThread is different because it "is a collaborative, multimedia slide show that holds images, documents, and videos and allows people to navigate pages and leave comments in 5 ways - using voice (with a mic or telephone), text, audio file, or video (via a webcam). Share a VoiceThread with friends, students, and colleagues for them to record comments too" (2009).

VoiceThread is a free service but offers a subrscription account for $60 a year. This subscription allows the teacher to create and manage student accounts, view and edit student work, and allows for your own custom domain.
